10% DA Hike for Central Government Employees
The government is in a celebration mood ahead of the Festive season. Just a day after it hiked the EPF interest rate by one percent, it announced another bonanza for the central government employee with a 10% hike in DA.
The dearness allowance for the central government employees has been increased by 10 percent to 45 percent of the basic pay. It will benefit 88 lakh central employees and pensioners in the country.
The bonanza will cost the government exchequer an additional Rs 9,302.2 crore per annum. The new DA hike will take effect from July 1, 2010.
